Arsenal progressing in talks to extend the contract of experienced defensive midfielder

Without much doubts, Arsenal football club will most definitely aim towards challenging the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool for some trophies next season.

The North London club have been quite impressive in the Premier League recently and are currently occupying the 4th position on the Premier League table so far.

Due to their recent improvements in form, Arsenal football club are now keen on keeping some of their best players at the club by offering a new long-term contract.

 

And if reports are anything to go by, then Arsenal are ready to offer experienced defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny a new contract before the end of this season.

The 29-year-old Egypt International, who signed up for Arsenal after leaving Basel back in 2015 has been an important member of the first-team squad over the previous seasons.

The experienced defensive midfielder was heavily involved for Arsenal during the 2020/2021 season where he scored three goals in 41 appearances in all competitions.

Mohamed Elneny has however found his way back into the starting line-up after a shaky start to this season and he has recorded two assists in the 14 matches he has played.

His excellent performances in midfield despite the absence of the injured Thomas Partey has impressed the Arsenal board and according to reports from popular transfer expert Fabrizio Romano via his verified Twitter page, the Gunners want to extend his current contract.

The reports further claimed that Arsenal are really keen on keeping Mohamed Elneny at the club and are now progressing in talks to reach an agreement with the defensive midfielder.

And with just two months left on his current contract at Arsenal, it remains to be seen if Mohamed Elneny will choose to sign a new contract or he will leave the club on a free transfer next summer.
