Problems for Barca as Chelsea show interest in their Top transfer target

Chelsea show interest

Chelsea show interest; After the departure of Christensen and Rudiger to Barça and Madrid respectively, Chelsea have joined the ‘bidding’ for Jules Koundé, with a million-dollar offer to scare off FC Barcelona, who are only offering a swap deal to Sevilla to sign the centre-back.

Last summer Chelsea came very close to securing the services of Jules Koundé to reinforce their defence, but failed to make the attempt in the face of Sevilla’s huge demands for 80 million euros to let the France international leave the club. For this year, the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán have lowered their demands, given the need to generate revenue, and in London they are once again considering a transfer.

In recent days, Koundé had reappeared on Barça’s radar, as he is a player that the sporting directors like a lot, but they have not found a formula with which the Camp Nou can present an attractive offer. Sevilla’s have already made it clear that they will not accept a barter and the Culés, evidently, will not be able to pay the transfer price unless there is a last minute surprise. Meanwhile, Chelsea are taking advantage and gaining ground in the race.

In England, it has been reported that the London side will put an offer of around 70 million euros on the table for the French centre-back, ten less than what they were asking for last season. The intention of the ‘blues’ is to present this amount and scare away the rest of the clubs that could be interested in the French player, as is the case of Barça.

The ‘Mirror’ newspaper stresses that Chelsea have been pushing for Koundé after Sevilla president José Castro admitted that his club needed to sell players in this summer transfer window because they were not meeting their budget. Stamford Bridge, in this sense, are preparing to present an offer, aware that their defence will be ‘touched’ with the departures of Andreas Christensen, to FC Barcelona, and Antonio Rüdiger to Real Madrid.

The aforementioned source also states that once Todd Boehly’s consortium has finally completed the acquisition of the club, Chelsea’s offices will act quickly to tie down Koundé as soon as possible. It will have to be before 30 June, when Sevilla need to bring in around 45 million euros to balance their books before the end of the year.

Koundé, ‘impossible’ for Barça
Sevilla, as we mentioned before, will only accept money for Koundé or any player from the first team squad. It was even reported that Barcelona had put on the table the possibility of carrying out an exchange, with the names of Sergiño Dest, Òscar Mingueza and Francisco Trincão on the table. The Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán made it clear that they were not interested and would only evaluate it if they added 25 million euros to the offer. The blaugrana ended up refusing.
