Tammy Abraham Hat-trick sets up Barnsley tie
Tammy Abraham has given Chelsea the early lead Credit. The English professional footballer double had Chelsea coasting after 16 minutes, but Kepa’s mistake has allowed Luton to get back into the game.
Chelsea’s opener was controversial as at one stage there were two balls on the pitch, but the referee didn’t see it and some of the Luton players were fuming.
The Blues badly need a win, and progress today would keep alive their hopes of FA Cup glory with Barnsley awaiting in the fifth round.
With the positive bright start and the quick two-goal start for the club, the Blues striker is now the first English player to score an FA Cup brace for Chelsea since both Daniel Sturridge and Frank Lampard did so against Ipswich in January 2011.
Christian Pulisic should have made it 3-0 in the 28th minute to put the Blues out of sight after an excellent dummy from Werner saw the American one-on-one with Sluga, but it was a tame effort straight at Sluga.
After the Halftime 2-1 win against Luton, Pulisic should have scored to make it 3-1 in the four minutes into the second-half, but Sluga makes a great point-blank stop to deny the ball as the US star is hurt. As the visitors (Luton) broke away off a loose ball from James to score, Kepa gets up a big left hand to deny Harry Cornick a golden opportunity. It was a huge save by Kepa!
Tammy Abraham netted his hat-trick in the 74th minute as he slotted in from a few yards out.
Werner won a penalty in the 85th minute as he was brought down following an excellent ball from Kovacic. But his effort was saved by Sluga.
The young strikers hat-trick in the 74th minute seals the game with a 3-1 win against Luton.
Chelsea will now face Barnsley in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Oakwell next month.
