Hakim Ziyech wasn’t at his best during Chelsea Vs Aston Villa Carabao Cup tie last night as Thomas Tuchel wasn’t happy.
The Moroccan was given the green light to start the game alongside Callum Hudson Odoi supporting Timo Werner at the front.
There were very few attacks of genuine quality from Chelsea in the opening 45 minutes which Hakim Ziyech was also guilty of not doing his job perfectly.
The ball was often moved slowly from side to side and Aston Villa were able to comfortably sit back and defend everything coming their way with stress.
Timo Werner pace could have been helpful a lot but due to the way the team was playing they failed to utilize the opportunity all through.
The ball was played into direct to Hakim Ziyech who shifted it onto his left foot inside the centre circle still holding on to the ball.
The forward looked up and spotted the movement of Timo Werner, who was on the shoulder of defender Axel Tuanzebe.
Although it wasn’t an easy pass to complete, but with the kind of quality Ziyech possesed, there was an expectation that the 28-year-old would drop his pass to Timo Werner.
He didn’t think in that direction as most of his balls during the game was pushed forward with too much pressure which the goalkeeper was able to claim.
Thomas Tuchel was momentarily livid and turned to his coaching staff to complain and vent as the Moroccan continued doing same mistake over and over.
Things were too much as his anger was shown when he was spotted taking his cap off and threw it on the floor after a decision was made against his team.
Chelsea had to wait until penalties before they could get the much needed win to advance into the next round of the Carabao Cup as they face Southampton.
